April Ross

April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball athletes to win medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross Tokyo for her third gold medal over the next few days. More than that though Ross is aiming to capture the first Olympic gold. With her age of 39, this may be her last opportunity to claim an Olympic gold. The athlete is optimistic she will be able to win top awards. Ross through NBC Boston, said that when the team performs very well, or even at all, it could be able to win gold. This is also an issue of luck. Ross was born in the city of Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents and sister were residents in the area. Ross played in numerous activities while at Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball along with basketball, running and track. When she played in the final sport, she clearly stood out. Based on her biography, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle volleyball player during her senior year at high school. Gatorade Circle of Champions named her the national Player in 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Although Ross Klineman and Ross have been doing their thing since the year 2017, Klineman was already an established player on the beach scene prior to their team. In fact, she won multiple major tournaments with two different partners, one of which is an icon of volleyball. She teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's coach. Along together with Kessy Ross was awarded a World Title in 2009 while competing on the international circuit. In 2012, the pair took silver in London's Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement after she had retired. In 2016, the duo were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to her pro career. She played during high school and in before hitting the beaches as a professional. She had a great run during her time in the college. Her freshman year in 2000 was when she won the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of Award and also be named an All-American. The Trojans were also able to get to the Final Four with her help. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss in her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat her place as an All-American. Through her two final years of participation in the Trojans team, she led the Trojans to winning a national title every year. As an individual, she established her place as a legend having won the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross was an international relations student at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mom Margie never got to see Ross's daughter reach the highest levels of beach volleyball fame. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001, when Ross was still an USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. As a result, Ross is still close to her deceased parent. Margie has inspired her throughout her life, as well as on the beaches.
